Sound Urban Forestry was formed by Kevin McFarland in 1994. After graduating from The Ohio State University with a BS in Forest Resource Management, he moved to the Olympia area as a contractor with Puget Sound Energy's Vegetation Management department. When the contract was not renewed, he decided to start his own business and has never looked back. Kevin has enjoyed working with many local communities and meeting the residents living within them. He strives to encourage the preservation of our natural resources while offering realistic management recommendations. Kevin became a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboiculture in 1997 and became Tree Risk Assessment Qualified in 2010. In 2003, he was joined by his associate Cheryl Roosendaal who offers a background in natural sciences and technical support.
Current contracts include the Cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Tacoma, Poulsbo and Bremerton.
